One thing I absolutely love about homes in Sweden is so many of the interiors of flats have such a 'house' feel to them. Like this charming little place, can you believe that this is an upper unit of a building? In America there is this intense pressure to own a home with a big lot and as much square footage as possible. I live in a town home and I am a long-term renter . . . probably/maybe for life. All I know is I couldn't afford to purchase all the charm that my rental offers me. I know I couldn't afford to buy in the neighborhoods that I would want to in city either. Sometimes I feel like a "bad American"knowing that I am just not living that darn American dream. But I also know those ideals aren't mine at all. Sure I'd love a little farm - especially in the South of France/Sweden. But I love where I live and while it isn't a house, it is my home. And I am constantly inspired by places such as this, that show you can make an apartment feel just as homey as a house.
