One thing I absolutely love about homes in Sweden is so many of the interiors of flats have such a 'house' feel to them. Like this charming little place, can you believe that this is an upper unit of a building? In America there is this intense pressure to own a home with a big lot and as much square footage as possible. I live in a town home and I am a long-term renter . . . probably/maybe for life. All I know is I couldn't afford to purchase all the charm that my rental offers me. I know I couldn't afford to buy in the neighborhoods that I would want to in city either. Sometimes I feel like a "bad American"knowing that I am just not living that darn American dream. But I also know those ideals aren't mine at all. Sure I'd love a little farm - especially in the South of France/Sweden. But I love where I live and while it isn't a house, it is my home. And I am constantly inspired by places such as this, that show you can make an apartment feel just as homey as a house.

  1. Well, hey, everyone is entitled to dream differently! And this home is definitely a dream- especially like the string instruments as wall art- saves floor space and adds interest all at once.

    1. i agree Santa! sometimes you need to just make those dreams fit the here and now too - but dreaming big is also always okay in my book and i do that a lot too : ) i also agree about the instruments, that is definitely what caught my eye at first.

  3. Those clever Swedes never miss a beat! Love this charming apartment! I am a renter too so I am constantly looking for apartment/flat inspiration. There is nothing like a Persian rug to make a house look homey!

  4. Christine ! I'm a first time visitor and so agree that the "American Dream" of big is not always better just more expensive! This apartment is lovely and I'm headed over to look at your older house tours now. I can't get enough of that sort of thing:)
