Photo Diary: Goodbye Summer

Monday, September 24, 2012

We had a really good summer. No big vacations but lots of little outings and my twins turned the big 4 - one of my favorite ages! Our summer was filled with taking lots of long walks with M+L and big brother, Fisher. It has to be the one thing that I most enjoyed. Maybe it's just the simplicity of it. Or that M+L are so different when they are interacting with the world around them, picking flowers and berries, watching birds, hunting for dinosaurs and my favorite: picking out your favorite houses. It also might be the one time they go without wrestling each other for more than five minutes that also makes this such a treat for me! I also love talking with my teenager Fisher on walks, while the little ones race and meander, we spent many hours this summer walking and chatting away. I do know I will remember this summer most by all of our long walks and I am really happy to know I have so many wonderful memories to reflect on. So, goodbye summer! See you next year.

What was your favorite part of this summer?

  1. I love you post! I am inspired to create one similar. Wonderful summer memories! We have a few also that I'd love to reflect back on and preserve in a blog post.

  2. Watching my son prepare for his new life as a young, independent man. I cherished every moment of this last summer of his childhood. Not many pics, but my heart is full.

Lovely post, dear lady. Enjoy the fall.

  3. The kiddos look like they're having the time of their lives. My favourite part about this summer is the amount of time I spent outside - I think the most since I went to college actually!

  4. What great photos, really seem to capture what sounds like a fantastic summer. We've had a big summer with a cross-continent move, so my favorite part was actually going on this adventure together. I'm looking forward to next summer and beginning to find new traditions.

  5. That's lovely and it's so great that you have all those awesome photos to keep the memory alive! Love it that the simplest things were the best! Oh, and I can totally relate to boys nonstop wrestling! I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old, and from the moment they walk in the door till the moment they go to bed, that's all they want to do!

  7. Noooooo! I’m just not ready to let go of summer yet! We didn’t have much of a summer in London but the one or two days of sunshine we had, I really enjoyed leaving the city behind and taking long drives through the narrow roads of the English countryside where all you could hear were the sounds of the farms and birds. I adored your summer pictures and you have such a beautiful family!

  8. Long walks sound so relaxing. I love how you were able to have special visits with your teenager. Those times are few and hard to come by sometimes.
    I'm excited for autumn!
