Design Trend | Curated |

The curated look has to be one of my favorite big design trends this fall. It may be because I often find that I love the history/mystery/story in objects as much as the objects in and of themselves. And to get the curated look all one has to do is surround yourself with things you love. Of course editing and thoughtful display is a must in order to keep it on the right side of the line between curated and cluttered (which may be why i am so impressed by this design style as i can't seem to do it without it feeling cluttered). But I love this design for its ability to tell a story about a person or about a home or about a life. It can be simple with a few objects displayed so they make you take notice, or layers of objects resting together so closely you have to get up close to inspect each one. It can be used in any design aesthetic to add a little extra warmth and interest to a space and I suppose in the end I just like to feel interested in my surrounding.

What do you think? Are you on board with curated look too?

  5. I'm not sure if I'm not sold on this look because I lack the required "eye" to pull it off perfectly or because I'm anti-clutter, haha. I want to go in to all these pictures and clean and straighten them up. But that's just me being neurotic! I do really love those metal pipe/wood wall-shelving units. So industrial chic.

  6. i am veryyy much on board with the curated look. i always loved the cluttered look, the more the better. and i especially love the kitchen, with the fancy painting hanging out on the counter and everything is white. oh how i wish my place could look as classy as that :)

  9. I never knew how this style was called - thank you for teaching me something new. I adore it, too, but so far my "corner of my life" has always been limited to my bedside table and my bathroom, sort of my zones. :) They are my comfort blankets that make me smile every morning.

  15. I especially love the second last photo. It's the perfect blend of colours and textures that it doesn't look cluttered at all.

  16. I do like it, mainly for the reasons you mentioned. It's neat to display items that have a story to tell and a history. But, I feel like I'd have to be very careful, or it would just look messy and cluttered. I like the idea of having a gallery of art on the wall, but maybe not all the other knick knacks.
