Make: Pinecone Garland

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I mentioned here that we painted some pinecones this last weekend, well, we also glittered some up while we were at it. We had a plethora of pinecones because M+L love finding "treasures" on our walks. And I have to admit finding and bringing home pinecones makes the walk feel a little bit more like an adventure for me too. I made this little garland out of our glittered ones and I am thinking it's going to be my inspiration for decorating this year: simple with a little sparkle.

What you need: Pinecones / glitter & glue or paint / string

What you do: Glitter pinecone edges with glue and glitter (or painting them works too), let dry over night and then tie string to the tips of the pinecones and string them up. Enjoy xo

  10. Aha! A craft within my skill level. I love pinecones, and I totally get why your wee ones love to collect them. They are my favorite seasonal decor item. And hey, who doesn't love some glitter? Did you watch Project Runway this past season? I can't remember if you're a fan or not. Anyway, this gif seems apropos: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_marhhumBsY1rdkmnho1_500.gif

  13. We did this project with the kids on our last camping trip, and they loved it. Never thought to string them together and make garland. You're so clever.
"I have to admit finding and bringing home pinecones makes the walk feel a little bit more like an adventure for me too." So true! We collect sticks and leaves on our walks.

  14. I love the garland. Love the woodsy feel of it coupled with the glamor of the glitter. We have tons of pines here (sometimes I feel like fall will never come because there are so many!), so I could maybe manage to pull this off...if I were at all crafty... ;)
