I have been seeing a lot of cute little wooden kitchen utensil sets with painted handles and I almost bought these ones the other day. But then I realized I already had a set of bamboo utensils in my kitchen drawer and some fun paint colors I had yet to try out, so I decided to just diy it. The kitchen is one place I don't feel I need everything to be really matchy-matchy, in fact I kind of like a bit of a modern-kitschy-french farmhouse vibe and I think these fit in with that odd combination. Especially for the price of free to dress them up and the 5 minutes it took me to slap a little paint on them. Now if I could only pair it all up with a smeg refrigerator.
Happy friday! Any fabulous plans for the weekend? I feel like February is going by so fast and next week is the last week of the month! But that means spring is almost here, and so with that, I just can't complain. xo

Te han quedado estupendos.
ReplyDeleteMe encanta los DIY
Bss y que llegue ya la primavera ;-)
I love the result of the DIY Christine, simple but really cute and bright.
ReplyDeleteNo plans for the weekend yet, less see what happend, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
kisses
I luv the colors u choose for the handles (great diy). In DIY'g u get to choose your OWN fun colors (I luv it).I thought about DIY'g our wooden spoons, then caved in December + purchased the ones from W/Elm :)
ReplyDeleteI have wooden spoons and cute paint colors too. I think I'm going to go for it! :) Do they wash okay?
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable, and I'm actually kind of in love with the shot of the napkin you wiped the brush on. That's so beautiful. I actually couldn't figure it out at first, I thought it was a painting of a bird or something. And the combination of colors is great! That hot pink is the perfect pop of color for a kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYeah, February is speeding on by. I can't believe it's already the 21st. Is this what life is life? No fun! Have a great weekend!
I really like the colors :)
ReplyDeleteThese look wonderful - I have a set of very plain wooden utensils that I might just have to jazz up a little! (like Erin, I love the tissue photo too :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like February is rushing past - nice that it means spring is closer, but not so nice that the year is going so fast with so little done yet!
At first I was worried about how the paint would react with food... but that was kind of silly of me. It doesn't look that hard to do designs either. Thanks for the tip!

It's so funny Christine because when I first started off cooking, the absolutely crucial utensil for everything was the wooden spoon. 10 years later, I still feel that it is but you're totally right, it could use some prettying up :)
ReplyDeletehow cute! This is such a great way to brighten up a kitchen.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Good for you, taking matters into your own hands and diy'ing those painted spoons. You're so resourceful. Yay for moving ever closer to spring. Trees are already starting to blossom in these parts and we had some nice weather this weekend, perfect for my daughter's first Tball game. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, Christine!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I think they are definitely cutesy and contemporary. And I completely agree - they would pair perfectly with a Smeg fridge. But then again I would change anything and everything in my kitchen to match a Smeg fridge if I could get my hands on one!
ReplyDeleteHow very cute! Bet it makes cooking more fun.

ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, Christine. I would want them in my kitchen too. If only spring came sooner. It's been raining for 4 days here.
ReplyDeleteOh my GOSH. Aren't Smeg fridges the best? I love them. They wouldn't really work in our kitchen, but love. I love your project too. Nice work, duckie. Hope your weekend turned out great. Figured out that camera yet? ;)
