I think I am actually happy it's Monday. I was hoping for a relaxing weekend but with the plans I had I knew it was a shot in the dark. Because I attempted to have a yard sale at my moms house. (I haven't had a yard sale in 10 years, I forgot how much work they are!) I have been taking my no-longer wanted/needed items to my her house over the last few weeks so we could have one together. Okay, she is actually in Hawaii, so my sister and I were out to help her get her house cleared up while she was away (with permission of course). She is wanting to downsize or redecorate for some time so I figured we could help get her started (and I could contribute to my decorating fund too!). But the weather wouldn't cooperate.

Someone once told me I was tenacious and I really didn't know whether to take it as a compliment or an insult, it's one of those descriptive words that can easily be used as one or the other. Well I think my tenacity in this situation ended up not being the best thing. Despite the cold and dark, heavy rain clouds we perserved (because the weather man said it was suppose to be 65 and sunny. Nope, not even close.), as soon as we got everything set up, three hours of work later, it started drizzling, then pouring. So we spent the next three hours drying, repacking and bringing it all back inside. You win some, you lose some. So today, I am starting my week off with what I do best, admiring others people places and spaces and I think I may spend the rest of my week alternating between my book and my pinterest boards. Or I wouldn't mind hiding in this lovely little studio apartment for the week.

  2. Rain got in the way of some of our weekend plans too - but for us it was nothing that we couldn't push into the week - like biking around the neighborhood together. However, you're right that yard sales are a lot of work! I hope your tenacity brings you to do it again the next sunny weekend we have so that you can get rid of some unwanted items and make room for more! Or make room for open air, I know you like that too :)

  3. Oh, I'm sorry your yard sale was a bust! I've never hosted one before, but I always thought they were an awful lot of work! Sorry it didn't work out this weekend, but at least you've got it in your system to get it done, and that's half the battle, right? I love this little apartment. One day I will have marble backsplash and tons of natural light. But I'm so curious: what is that weird table/stick thing at the end of the sofa? It looks like a stool but maybe also a mini Segway?? Haha, I'm so confused by it!

  4. Oh no! Sorry to hear the sale got rained out. But don't give up on it! And what a lucky mama to have her daughters helping her out while she is on holiday in Hawaii?!

As for the home featured today, I just love it when people go for it with mirrored walls (and get it right!)

  5. Oh man that story sounds like something that would happen to me! How annoying! My weekend was far from relaxing as well. My daughter has the stomach flu, so we spent a lot of time in bed...but no one was really "resting" per se. Hope your week goes better! Love the space!

  6. Extraordinary beauty, there is a calm harmony in each room, so many different textures and of course that fab art on the walls!

  7. Oh, this home is beautiful! I love all of the abstract art prints hanging. I'm so sorry to hear about the rain though, what a pain :(

  8. You're absolutely right, yard sales are a lot of work! Add to that all those professional yard sale buyers who make the rounds and know how to negotiate so well it makes your head spin. Well, mine anyway. ;) Sorry the weather didn't hold out for you guys.
Oh, whenever I tell someone that I love their tenacity, I use it as a compliment. I never knew it could be taken a different way. I should be more careful. ;)
PS~Love this house! I want someone to bring that styled out bench, just as it is, over to my house.

  9. So sorry to hear your yard sale was rained out - I have always wanted to go to one but here in the UK, we have car boot sales and they are filled with weirdos and are also usually rained out. As for this apartment, it's amazing what those clever Swedes can do with such little space. I would have to remove the freaky dolls head candle holder but then I would move right in!

  10. I have always thought of tenacity as a compliment - you're determined and you get things done. The world needs more people like that and less people milling around waiting for something to happen instead
