Mother's Day Gift Guide

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Mother's day is coming up this Sunday in the US. Anyone have any special plans? I have to say everyday feels like mother's day around here being a mom and all. Personally I don't see a better way to celebrate my mothering than to have a day off from it. I kid. Okay, I am actually not kidding. I honestly adore my children and love being a mom, I just totally get those calgon commercials now. While at the top of my wish list would be a remote island vacation I rounded up a few other goodies in case that doesn't happen. Because that's totally not going to happen, and even if it did, within about 10 minutes I'd be wishing my kids were there to enjoy it with me.

  1. A dear friend used to live across the street from us, mom to 4, she was kind of my mom idol in a lot of ways. Always serene and endlessly patient, she was nothing I could ever aspire to. ;) I clearly remember one Mother's Day when she said to her troublesome 2nd child as she'd asked him to come back home for the 4th time, "Are you honestly going to make me punish you on Mother's Day?"

Ah yes. Words to live by. I've had some crummy Mother's Days too. Expectations too high, maybe? No gifts for me this year (for specific reasons), but we'll have brunch and hang out. Those are the things I'm looking forward to. XO

  3. I totally get how a day off would be good celebrating. After all, isn't that what we do on Labor Day?? Great picks- would love to get my mom that mug, just to mortify her (because I secretly think it's true ;-)

  4. I'm totally going to leave my laptop open at this page (if only to remind my husband that it's actually Mother's day! Any of these pressies would be a huge bonus! PS love the mug! ha!

  5. Well, if this is what motherhood looks like (or at least, the presents that go with it) than I doubly cannot wait to be a mom. Someone buy me that fouta and those folding ballet flats and I'll totally raise a munchkin. I'll be thinking of you this Sunday! Hope your boys spoil you rotten and give you lots of peace and quiet :) xo

  6. Hope you get spoilt rotten on Sunday! I love your round-up! And you have just reminded me to pop a little something in the post for my grandmother (I am not a bad granddaughter, Mother's Day falls on a different day here in the UK but back home in South Africa, it's also on Sunday and I totally forgot)!

  7. Hello, pretty roundup and things I now want. Though, I love my kids to death, I do get the Calgon take me away reference. I'll get my Calgon experience with a nice girls' mani/pedi session after breakfast on Sunday. Like you, I miss my kids whenever my husband and I are a away from them (trying to have a date night or whatnot). Inevitably, we always end up talking about the kids and wishing they were there with us. So funny how that happens.
