Breaking News (not really)

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

I know getting a haircut isn't breaking news - unless you are me and you haven't gotten a haircut in about two years and your ends are so dry you poke your children's eyes out with it while trying to console them or snuggle. And when your friends say "wow, your hair is so long!" And then you say "yeah, but look how unhealthy it is. . ." They respond with, "yikes, yeah, you really need a haircut. when was the last time you had your haircut?" Then it's breaking-freaking-news. And so here you have it tomorrow I am finally getting my hair cut! I am going to a new place (it's been so long I am ashamed to see my regular gal. sorry regular gal but you must understand, I am shamed.) For some reason (yelp) I chose a place called ginger hair salon - it has good reviews and easy parking. But oye. That name kind of makes me want to poke out my own eyes with my dead ends. But apparently the term "ginger" is here to say and if so I may as well embrace it (I am totally never going to embrace it but I am getting my hair cut and that's good.) I am thinking of something like this which with my hair color and texture will translate to this. Wish me and my impossible hair luck!

  1. Having my hair cut is a big deal for me too because I hate to have my hair cut. My hair and I have this love hate relationship, it only looks good 5 minutes before going to be or the day before getting it cut. I can see the haircut inspiration you posted looking good on you, the link and not the posters because I can't imagine you with Chewbacca's hair ;)

    1. i can't wait for that feeling of a new haircut. and the first time you wash it and it feels so healthy! oh, it's going to be heaven. and, yes, two years is embarrassing long. i am someone that truly should probably get my haircut every 8 weeks - then maybe i wouldn't have such a problem with the texture?

  3. I've never had long hair until the last two years or so. I have fairly fine hair and I was always told I "couldn't." I can, apparently. Growing out my hair happened by accident and at a time in my life when our family was in transition. We weren't seeing people for long stretches of time, so I ran into what you're running into a lot: WOW. You're hair is REALLY long.

They're not saying (and ratty too.)

    Good luck! Post afters!

    1. my hair is fine, corse and wispy and thick, curly and strait and wavy. it's a mystery. so growing it out too long never works for me. i need to let that dream go. i really do ;)

  4. I want to see a before and after comparison after the big event! It gives me an excuse to fawn all over your beautiful bug ;) I'm bad about keeping up with regular appointments, too. Every 8 weeks? Seriously? I don't have that kind of money. And then my hair grows into some giant dead triangle of unmanageableness and I crawl, shamefaced, to my regular guy. Maybe they don't mean "ginger" in a red-head way? Maybe it's like a Thai restaurant slash hair salon? Okay, that is a bad mental image. have fun!! xo

    1. money is a big one. my regular gal is really spendy. and i always think "oh, i can wait . . ." obviously you see what happens when i wait, two years go by. plus the parking is bad and i am a big baby with lots of excuses. hopefully this place will be so great (and close!) that i can forgive the name choice. ps i looked at the website and at least half the staff has redhair. i think they ain't talking about ginger root.

  6. 2 years?! You are a brave soul. I tend to get a haircut every 6 months, and that's painful enough. Hope the cut turns out the way you want it :) The inspo pictures are gorgeous. Not sure if you've heard of her, but the hairstyle remind me of Karen Gillan's :) Here's to healthy hair wooo

  7. Post your hair! I hate getting haircuts... or rather, the anticipation of getting a hair cut. I just want to get it done and over it when I feel like my hair should be shorter. Surprising I haven't cut it myself yet. And PS - I kind of love ginger hair
