Powder Colours

Thursday, July 4, 2013

I thought I would go for the subtle fourth of July reference on the blog today. How beautiful are these captured explosions of Powder Colours by photographer Marcel Christ? Breathtaking I think.

Any plans for my July 4th celebrating friends? I usually go to my moms but I am still undecided. She lives in Washington and they get to have the big fireworks there which the whole neighborhood pulls together and goes all out. Unfortunately my M+L are not fans of large explosive sounds which means our night usually ends up long and stressful - people with dogs will probably know what I am talking about. So I am thinking of keeping it close to home with a few smoke balls and sparklers. Stay safe and have fun!

  1. Have you considered Thundershirts for M&L? ;) I'd hang close to home, if I were you. They'll grow out of this phase eventually and there are plenty of fireworks to be seen in your future, you know?

We're still in recovery/catch-up mode. Neel's at work for a bit today (two weeks gone makes him a bit demented) and I'm still working to get our house in gear. And me in gear! Missed you, duckie. XO

  6. Wowza. My dad had a lot of powder colors in his studio and I was always fascinated by how they shook around in their jars. I had completely forgotten about those. Thank you for the reminder! And I always choose to stay home on giant event nights like this. Our city has a giant concert with fireworks every year (the Roots are the house band, and this year we had John Mayer and Ne-Yo and people play) so the crowd is just unimaginable. I think they estimated 600k people? No thanks! I had just as good a night watching everything on my tv, far away from the rumble of the fireworks. I hope whatever you ended up doing was delightful! Definitely check out thundershirts, haha, they're supposed to be great for dogs...and kids? :) xo

  11. Oh, those are so beautiful! I have always really loved that type of imagery. :)

I think a mellow 4th of July sounds lovely... mine sure was! My husband and I took off to the beach earlier that week but spent the 4th at home watching The Avengers, haha. :)

I hope your 4th was lovely!
