House Tour | Barcelona Apartment |

This week has been a bit like last week but without feeling completely ruled by murphy's law. I have been car hunting, for a used car, which has reminded me why people talk about car shopping in the same way they talk about having their eyes poked out. I don't love driving so I am sure no matter my budget I'd never be one to take on a car payment - that sounds like a double negative. So used car shopping it is. The problem is there is some shortage on used cars and my wants are just not matching up with what is available in general and in my budget (please don't make me get another minivan!). But hopefully after this weekend this less than fun treasure hunt will be over and I can get off craigslist and back to pinterest.

Speaking of which At Home In Love featured me last week as one of her favorite pinterest accounts to follow. Which was such a nice little honor and completely validated the copious amounts of time I spend pinning. Thanks Aileen! Aileen has a beautiful blog and a fantastic pinterest account herself by the way - you can check it out here.

Now to this apartment, it is located in Barcelona's Gothic Corner, though having never been to Barcelona I don't know what that means, it sounds good though. There are a few things I don't love about it. The laminate (?) wood walls + ceilings would be at the top of that list. It feels very corporate to me which isn't me at all. But one feature I love is the kitchen counters. They fold down to hide the stove top and sink! Which I just love because cooking is one of those things I sometimes love to do and other times completely detest. Kind of like 'sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't.' It would be so lovely to have the ability to completely hide the kitchen. Cook dinner? What? I can't hear you.

But what really was the deciding factor in sharing this space is that bathroom (rarely am I moved by a bathroom but after this week I think I'd like to spend all next week right there). My next favorite would be that gorgeous bedroom which is so serene and inviting. Book please and shut the door on your way out. I probably don't have to mention that I am in love with the architectural details like the windows and the beams in the living room, but maybe we can add the track lights to the take-away list.

And apparently too much time spent car shopping makes me ramble so I will leave it here and wish you all a happy weekend. Say a little prayer to the car gods for me!

  1. Ugh. Cars. Don’t even talk to me about cars – we just ended up scrapping ours and it was traumatic. Why are all things car-related usually traumatic? Now on to more important things: THIS HOUSE. It’s just hopped to the top of my favourite list. The palette is so soothing and chic. The walls and floors are so smooth and sleek and I love love love the windows in the living room and the sliding door to the bedroom. Happy hunting Christine!

  2. It's funny, the bathroom of this house is the only room that really grabbed me. I couldn't pin my finger on it because it has many elements that I tend to really like, but I think you nailed it with the corporate thing. Just doesn't feel warm to me. I mean, everything Meghan has said is spot on and still, doesn't grab me.

You know, I need to get better at Pinterest. Mine languishes. I need to get better at a lot of things, but pinterest is at the top of the list.

Good luck on the car front!

  3. There is just so much here I am in love with. The linen bed, the white floors, the casement windows to the terrace (CANNOT EVEN DEAL), those gold lights over the dining room, the Eames chairs, I just...wow. You always find the best homes, I swear. Good luck car shopping! Having never owned a car I can't relate, but it has definitely seemed like one of those overwhelming and looming tasks that are just no fun. Wouldn't you rather be shopping for books?? Haha. Crossing my fingers for you, twinsy! I can see you in a vintage Volvo for sure. xo

  4. i love all of the fluffy rugs in this house! they make me want to curl up on the floor to watch tv and not on the couch. good luck car hunting! i remember when i bought my car, and how tedious it was trying not to get scammed, trying to be firm and get a good deal, and honestly, being a woman, i find it that much harder bc i can't look inside the hood and know what's good and what's bad.

  5. I don't love the wood walls either but that's probably only because I'm afraid of spiders and I feel I wouldn't be able to keep track of them if they were around :\ But they design is so pretty and I especially love the rugs! They look so inviting for bare feet :) Hope you find a car that matches your needs!

  6. Aww I'm sorry to hear about your car shopping troubles and hope that the search proves easy for you.

I've never been a big fan of the wood walls either, something about them reminds me of a barn, but gotta say, I absolutely LOVE the interior of this apartment, even the wood walls. It all works together I feel. I guess that's the thing in general about very modern, contemporary houses, they feel really cold and 'uninviting', but it really appeals to me for some reason. I think at this point, as a relatively young, single person, this would be the ideal 'interior' for me. With kids, it's a whole new story. Not that I could ever afford something like this, but me loves me some good, clean lines.
