Pins Of The Week | To Make |

Thursday, August 8, 2013

I love this yarn banner DIY from Creative Bug. Several of my bedroom inspirations (still uncompleted but slowly getting there btw) I have pinned on my the bed board on pinterest have had similar looking textile wall art hangings. It must be from being a child of the 70's, or it's just really grown on me. I have a ton of yarn from days of knitting (years ago), which, I think I can finally say isn't my thing, so I may put it to use and create one of these. On the scale of easy to difficult - this one looks easy peasy.

Here is another thing to make but for the tummy: Stone Fruit in Lemon and Thyme Syrup with Creme Fraiche. This dessert looks heavenly and for me it has the added bonus of being gluten free. I can't tell you how hard it is to go through summer being taunted by pies and fresh pasta dishes. I thought winter would be difficult to be gluten-free, seems for me it's the summertime.

And while flowers are still in bloom I think this flower typography project from Urbanic Paper looks so pretty. It also looks pretty involved and not for the faint of heart but it may just be that my motivation for DIY's has been on the low end of the spectrum lately. But if any of you try this I'd love to see pictures!

Right now the only DIY project I am working on is the desk I found (literally) for Fisher's room. It's been a long time since I have refinished a piece of furniture. But I am really excited to see how it turns out. And it's been super fun to work on something with my boy. I found that if there are power tools involved he doesn't mind getting a little crafty.

  1. The DIY project I'm going to be working on is to pay some attention to my pinterest boards. After seeing Annie's and hearing about yours, well, they need some love!

I'm not much of a DIYer. ;) I wish you'd do a tutorial, sort of a walk through of how what and why you pin. I'd love to hear your thought-process. XO

Oh, and I want that flower monogram. Someone needs to make it for me though!

  3. I tend not to pin DIY things because there is only the smallest of likelihoods that I will ever actually DIMyself, haha. I love this round-up though! It's fun to get a glimpse into what you're looking at or thinking about pinning. xo

  4. I love DIY Pins on Pinterest. I get inspired to work on a project when I see it pinned. Most of the time I get lazy to do something, but since moving into our home I hve been more inspired to actually do something and decorate.

  5. I am really impressed with you going Gluten free! I started out last year on a Macrobiotic diet, (due to health reasons) and did extremely well for about 3 months. Then Xmas came.....need say no more! Now, I try to gluten and dairy free but slip up more often then I would like. Love your DIY wall hanging project, so colourful.

  6. I am so hopeless at DIY. My patience is non-existent and I usually end up giving up on projects half way through (because they never turn out the way I expect). My plan for the rest of the year is to persevere and try something truly cool. I love the idea of the flower typography. Oh and I can't believe you found that cute little desk on the roadside!
