Blah

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

I couldn't figure out how I felt over the weekend (and seemingly how I am starting the week off too). I wasn't feeling bad, but I wasn't feeling good. I wasn't feeling sick, but I wasn't feeling well. I wasn't feeling happy, but I wasn't feel sad. I wasn't feeling sleepy, but I most certainly wasn't feeling awake. Then yesterday as I was mindlessly perusing pinterest I found this and I thought, "yes, this is it. this is how I have been feeling." Blah. Sometimes it happens, for no reason at all, or reasons that are yet to be determined. But for the times it does I may as well make the most out of that cable bill pay every month of which there is a plethora of mindless entertainment to choose from. What is your favorite thing to do when you are feeling so very blah?

  1. Well. House Hunters is usually on in the background, but sometimes that makes me wistful, so no. If I really want to sink to the depths, I hit Bravo for a Real Housewives marathon (New Jersey is my fave!) or Below Deck. Of course I usually end up needing to shower after any of these, but still.

I'm blah these days too. We've discussed this I think. I'm trying to figure it out.

    1. i have been watching hgtv, sometimes it's nice to see others accomplishing things when i am totally unable too.

blah is no fun and being as it's so "blah" it's hard to figure out. xo

  2. I know why I feel blah at the moment... it's that layer of grey that is enveloping everything, clouds hanging so low you think you can touch them, a feeling of in-between, not here anymore but not there yet. it's always the same for me when things are changing, be it seasons or other, more meaningful things... hope you feel less blah soon xxx

    1. thank you :)i thought the season was changing here, and then it shot back to high temperatures, so i don't know maybe i am just feeling too confused. i can say i know i am super affected by the weather and i think i was secretly excited for the fall. xoxo

  3. Yes, flatlining is totally a real thing that hits people every once in a while. You're not up, you're not down, you're just sliding along. It's kind of disorienting! At least when you're in a funk that's an active set of emotions! I agree with Lauren though, a nice mindless marathon of something on tv, a strong cup of tea, and a little treat (new candle? macarons?) and then honestly, wait it out. This too shall pass. Pinky promise, xo

    1. ah! flatlining. that is the most perfect word for how i am feeling! yes, it does happen, not too often to me at this level where formulating a sentence feels like a lot of work, but it happens. and yep, i am just going to wait it out. i think i have been trying to fight it off for awhile and it didn't work, so hopefully finally giving in will help and i'll emerge with new vigor ;) i can hope! xo

  4. Whenever I feel like this, I can not wait to get home and watch a good movie. It helps every time. :)

  5. OOoof, I'm so sorry that you feel like that. I often get the blahs when the weather is crummy and grey. I'm a stress eater, which is a dangerous thing when you have the blahs, but I end up baking a ton when I'm upset or not feeling myself. Other people eating makes me happier :)

    1. thanks roothers. the weathers been super nice which is why it's caught me off guard. usually that's it for me too, so not knowing what it is, well, it's weirder. i feel like i have mono or something. baking sounds like a lot of work but i'd happily eat your baked goods ;)

  6. Haha, this is great. I try to do nice things for myself when I feel like this. Like some time off, a nice walk, a long bath, reading a book, etc. Sorry I know it sounds so cliche but it kind of works--oh yeah and a good piece of chocolate :)

  7. I feel blah quite a lot. Usually at the change of a season. Best thing for it? Self indulgence! Have that slice of cake, afternoon nap or bubble bath in the middle of the day. Works every time for me. Hope you beat the blahs soon!

    1. thanks meghan :) these things never last too long. i think i might just be fighting off a virus or something because i feel so crazy drained. like what i think of when people describe "chronic fatigue syndrome." so strange. but i bought a giant thing of fresh squeezed oj today, hopefully that will help. cake might work too. xo

  8. Netflix is definitely the best thing when you're feeling blah. I love just letting my brain turn to mush and relax for a bit.

I hope you shake of the blah blahs soon.

    cheers.
