Tastemaker

Awhile back I was invited by Arcadian Home to be a featured tastemaker and put together a collection from their enormous selection of items that reflect my personal (and favorite) interior design style. If you have read my blog more than once you probably know I am a lover of both modern and vintage, so of course that was the design style I featured. The great thing is is that vintage and modern can usually work really well together, (especially modern and mid-century vintage. mmmm). I tried to create a collection where you could mix and match almost any of the pieces and they would work well together. But let me tell you this is was not as easy as I thought it sounded at first (it did turn out to be as fun as i thought it would be though). They have so many items and goods that cover just about every design style you can think of, and there were so many things I loved, it took me forever to narrow it down, but finally I did, and these here, are a few of my absolute favorite pieces from my collection. You can see the whole vintage-modern collection here. Do you have a favorite design style?

  1. I love your mood board, Christine, you've got impeccable taste in design! Speaking of vintage and modern, I love how you paired the rugged textures and the intricate poster design with the ethereal glass of the stacked coffee tables! Over all, your choices look very comfortable and a little masculine, yes?

    1. thank you so much! yes, i think i do have a bit of liking toward masculine, but only with lots of texture to soften it up. but clean masculine lines and grey and brown and black and white, yes!

  2. oh my gosh these pieces are perfect. i wouldn't change them a bit. i am definitely with you on a mix of vintage and modern, but also love to have splashes of industrial and rustic.

  4. Ooo I like this - Christine you are welcome to come over and design my place. It's still pretty bare even after living here for almost a year. Sigh, I'm behind, what can I say

  5. Ooh I love this. Definitely very "you." I don't know if my style is anything distinctly label-able. I definitely like French provincial, but I also like Scandinavian whites. My guest room is my favorite blend of both. Now if I could just carry that over to the rest of the house...xo

    1. ooo, thanks i like that you see this as me. now if i could just get all of this from my computer screen into my house! and i love your faves too. i just like to say modern/vintage because really, with that vintage in there it can incorporate everything! every style. xo

  6. I like mid-century too. sounds and looks like we have a similar taste. minimal with splashes of old but not too old. a simple colour scheme. currently I'm obsessed with grey. a few splashes of colour. and lots of books and big plants to take the edge of and so it doesn't look too bare. bold art, either photos or abstract expressionist prints.

  7. i love those hanging chairs but I am always afraid I will break them!

Vintage/Modern is my style but I lean more to the vintage side of things because I love love love old things. I also think its hard to get the perfect balance of vintage and modern because if you have too much vintage or if the vintage isn't styled right- it feels outdated. and if you do too much modern it feels cold and sparse. Have you been treasure hunting lately?

    1. i love both a lot. but i think my modern taste is also on heavy on the side of mid-century influenced, so technically i am probably more on the vintage side. but the left side of my brain needs clean lines. and, noooo :( i haven't been treasure hunting lately. i've more target hunting lately as in target the store ;)
