So far I think this December is off to a pretty good start because I don't feel shocked to say it's Friday again. The week felt like it went at a nice steady pace and I am hopeful that the weekend will go at a leisurely pace.  It's been really cold around here, with temps barely getting above freezing during the day and that is making me fall right into the wintery spirit. They keep saying it might snow, and though I know it probably won't (it rarely snows here in December, when it's not raining it gets cold like this, but as soon as the clouds roll in it warms up and we are back to rain) but just the fact they are talking about it is kind of exciting. My fingers start to feel like they could start breaking off if I stay out too long and my nose starts to run, things I normally I hate about the cold, but something about it this year is just feeling quite lovely to me and I am being drawn into the wintery and stark whites, cozy greys, evergreens and lots of twinkling lights. I am looking forward to decorating the house this weekend and this year I am really loving the understated and subtle holiday decorations. I have a few diy ideas to take on this weekend too, which have been inspired by this moodboard, among other things. What are your weekend plans?

  1. I love every single thing on here. All of it. We're getting our tree tonight and out come the decorations. Cal and I are locked in a battle about where it's going to go. Don't tell, but he might win. ;)

It's brutally warm here right now (and I have a killer headache), but the front is moving through (hence the headache) and it'll be cold and rainy this weekend. Perfect for feeling winter like.

  2. i wish we would get even the threat of snow down here! as for us, we're decorating this weekend too and this year, i'm not doing any diy. however, steven found these mushroom ornaments that he wants to make tons of them to have a woodland tree of mostly mushrooms. i think it will be lovely, but i still have so many old wooden ornaments from my childhood that i need to sneak in there ;)

  3. It's supposed to snow here on Sunday! I might get up early just to watch it, as it's supposed to stop by 5am and then switch to rain. How affected would that be? Getting up at 4am to watch the first December snowfall from my window, in the quiet hush of my sleepy house, and then crawling back to bed? Too much? ;)
I'm with you the week passing at a good pace. It felt a bit fast for me, in fact yesterday I had to do a double take that it was really Thursday, but it was a good busy, and not too overwhelming. I love this time of year because the color palate is always white white white and gray (and the usual red and green, too). What's not to love about that?? Have a good weekend, twinsy!! xo

  4. lovely pictures. I'm not a winter person myself. i can get a little excited about it in the time leading up to Christmas, but that's it. for me, two weeks of snow are enough. after that, I'm ready for spring.

my week was a whirlwind of work and play. and the weekend seems to be the same. I can't complain. life is good. my timing feels all wrong, though. in a good way. time is flying and stretching at the same time. and sometimes I talk about something I did last week and it turns out it happened just a few hours ago.... xo

  5. I tried to comment on your blog yesterday and my computer was freaking out. Anyway, I love these images Christine! Can't wait to see your diys. My house is all torn up to be painted upstairs (which hasn't happened) so I'm anxious to start in and get it over with, hopefully before the end of December.

Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend decorating and watching holiday movies!

    xo Mary Jo

  7. I know that by now you've gotten snow - do you still feel like bringing winter whites inside after the frozen tundra that is the outside? I have had every single weekend plan stymied because of the weather now... how is yours going?

    1. our snow was blown away by the fearsome winds, so it's pretty much gone now. it's so dry and so cold, definitely not our usual weather around these parts (it's usually just boring old rain at this time of year). so yeah, i am still into the winter whites & maybe even more so now that we actually have winter weather. we do get ice storms here and those are so pretty but the worst because you do get stuck!! hope you are enjoying other things you love, like reading and can make up some of your plans later. xoxo
