The Wes Anderson Collection

Thursday, February 27, 2014

I think I am still fighting off whatever virus we last had in our house. Now that my children all seem to be feeling better my body has decided it's tired, really tired and in need of a little more rest than I normally allow it. So yesterday morning when I heard a loud thump on my porch I was happy to see that it was a package - as opposed to my plants being knocked over by the blustery winds again. In the package was The Wes Anderson Collection by Matt Zoller Seitz, a book I have been wanting to get my hands on since I found out it was coming out. I have just skimmed it so far, but it's huge. It's packed with essays and storyboards and interviews, artwork, photos and so much eye candy. And someday when I get around to refinishing my coffee table I am going to be so excited to stick this right on top. Have you come across any good coffee table books lately?

  1. I've been hearing all kinds of good things about this book, those colors look so appealing! My favorite coffee table book is Alexander McQueen's book by Andrew Bolton, I have no real interest in fashion but I love this book. Those pieces are real works on art.

  2. Oh I have so many books 'wishlisted' for coffee table books, I might as well just stack the books up to make a coffee table. I hope you're feeling better soon Christine. Being under the weather when the weather is such crap is no good

  3. Ooh, that looks like a treasure for a Wes Anderson fan! Isn't it impossible to wait for something you want so badly?? Haha, maybe that's just me. My mom's boyfriend got me "Humans of New York" for Christmas, and my best friend got me "Paris: An Inspiring Tour of the City's Creative Heart" which is a neighborhood guide of all things artsy. And then J and I picked up two enormous books on the collections of the Louvre and the D'Orsay at B&N on super sale (they're probably 12" long each of them, and were under $10!). I have a thing for coffee table books, ahem. xo

  4. The wind has been awful lately hasn't it? I hope you feel better soon. I think my favorite coffee table books are just oversized books like creativity art ones. :)

  5. Ah, I envy you, Christine. I didn't even know this one was out. I want it too. :) And I can't wait to see his latest film, The Grand Budapest Hotel. One of my latest coffee table books additions, which I haven't had the chance to write about yet, is Roman Polanski: A Retrospective, a great insight into the director's filmography.

  7. I'm just catching up after taking a sick day yesterday, but how funny that we both posted about Wes Anderson this week! I'm feeling like I might need this book. Or Cal might need it (he's a huge fan) and then it should live on my coffee table instead of his bedroom. :) I just can't wait until the movie comes out. Wes Anderson made everybody eat together each night. Like summer camp! Bliss.
