Favorite Finds | 30 | Kiki + Polly

So far this week has been as lovely as promised. We have taken some trips to the park, extra walks and just sat outside in the grass to soak up the sun. Lisa Golightly's work of Kiki and Polly, speaks to just these kind of days. I first came across her work on Etsy, she has/had several "twin" paintings, that, well, you can imagine I loved when I saw them. But when I took the time to look through all of the work she has on her Etsy shop, I was even more smitten (and I learned she's also from Portland). I love the playful nature of her work, the color palettes and, for me, the depiction of childhood, friends and the relationship between to two, is just so beautiful. It reminds me of being small, warm summer days and how big even the smallest of moments were.

She was also featured in The Creative Block, the new book by Danielle Krysa, of The Jealous Curator. I really need to get my hand on a copy of that book soon.

  5. i absolutely adore lisa's work. the color palettes, the brush strokes, the sense of nostalgia...it is truly wonderful. i'd love to have one of her originals someday - i can only imagine how rich the textures are in person. but until then, i think a few prints will have to do :)

  6. I just adore the one of the two girls in green holding hands. It looks like they're mid-spin. Remember when you used to link hands with your friend and lean back and run in really really fast circles?? Tell me I'm not the only one who did that! These are all so delightful but also not too 'light' and easy, they're all very thoughtful. xo

    1. i used to do that too! and now m+l do it. they also like me to spin them around, though my tolerance for spinning has gone down in recent years.

i agree, they seem light at first glance, but i think all the emotion of nostalgia that bubbles up when you start remembering the feelings of childhood that are evoked in these painting definitely adds a lot of depth. xo
