happy for the weekend

Friday, April 4, 2014

I don't know about you but I am so happy that the weekend is upon us. Despite the rain that has been unrelenting since that little streak of sunshine we had - though I certainly wouldn't complain if the sun decided to come out for a bit, I am relieved that it is friday at last. Last weekend felt too short, I was on a roll and then monday came and I feel like I have been trying to get into the groove of the week, unsuccessfully, since it started. I actually look forward to the weekend as a time to get a lot of work done. I don't know if it's just the psychology of feeling relaxed, uninterrupted, the lack of pressure, or the possibility of spontaneity but somehow I get more work done in those two days than the other five. And usually we do most of the cleaning and our (fun) outings on the weekends too. How and why, I don't know. But I like it. And all of the above is exactly what I have planned for this one. My work has been busy and I know it's about to get even busier so I am eager to dive into piles of fabric while watching the new season of game of thrones. How about you, any weekend plans?

    1. so excited. i am actually on the fifth book and it's a bit confusing watching the show and reading the book - so many more characters. but i just love seeing it all, and reliving my favorite parts. this season is going to be good!

  2. This week FLEW by, I literally blinked and it was Thursday afternoon! It was trippy, I'm still not sure what I did or what happened on Wednesday, it's like I was on a bender ;) My weekend is looking similar to yours, minus Game of Thrones, because J and I are lame and gave up halfway through season 1 (don't hate me!). Throwing myself into work (writing). Have a good one, lovey! xo

    1. ha, i could never hate you. i almost gave up on it too, but because i was reading the books and being a bit critical. but as i got farther away from where i was in the books and where the shows were it's good to help me remember who all these people are and how they relate to each other. hope you got some writing done. xo

  4. i definitely have GOT plans tonight! other than that, yesterday i did mass amounts of laundry, laid by the pool, caught up on magazines, practiced french, drank champagne, and made a yummy asparagus and mushroom tart for dinner. today, other than GOT, just brunch with a friend in an hour! i felt productive and relaxed at the same time this weekend! perfect formula, right?

  5. I'm usually very productive in weekends, too. I think it's all of the reasons you've mentioned yourself. Sunday has always been my least favourite day and I am always trying to fill it with something creative, although I don't succeed every time. But I think Saturday is my favourite day of the week. I am the most relaxed on Saturdays and work comes so easily, leaving me enough time for relaxation as well. Hope you're enjoying your weekend, Christine!

  6. How was your weekend and were you able to be as productive as you wanted? The weather was a total downer (rainy and cold) - I seriously don't know how you folks in PDX do it!

    1. nope, it really wasn't that productive. but i have a feeling i will make up for it this week when the sun comes out. it is tough living with all this rain. that's why i watch so much tv and read so many books! and, when the sun comes out it sure is pretty around here. that kind of makes up for it ;)

  7. Ah Christine that sounds like the loveliest of weekends, and I do hope it was marvelous. I'm a little bummed out that it's now at it's close. But we had a good one. Finished the first season of House of Cards. #addicted. And had a BBQ with some good friends today. Here's to the start of a great week!!

    1. i am a little bummed it's over too. it went much too quickly. i really think we need to have 3 day weekends, that extra day would really help on the regular. i need to finish HoC. i've only watch the first episode.
