I seem to often be daydreaming about Australia. I know for many, Australia conjures up images of giant and deadly insects that call the land of Oz home. But I think of the sunshine, warm breezes, outdoor living, deserts and beaches, and the amazing interiors from Australian homes that I seem to come across on a daily basis. And this beautiful beach rental is feeding those daydreams ferociously. There is absolutely nothing about this space I would change, and even in houses that I completely swoon over I can usually find a little something here or there that I would change. But here, nothing. It's perfect. That fabulous outdoor area, those big sliders and windows that are drenching this space in light is also making me want the stretches of sun to last a bit longer around here. Though I suppose I am busy enough right now that I should appreciate being rained in. The rain and chill is the perfect boundary for me to stay on the interior of my threshold and get some work done this weekend. How about you, what are your weekend plans?

  1. I love this house. As Neel and I think about what we want our next space to be, this has so many elements. White walls, floor to ceiling windows, easy access to outdoor spaces, vaulted ceilings and open plan living... I doubt I can get it all, but when I see this, I think, why not?

  2. I'm laughing, because the first thing you said about "Australia" conjuring images of deadly bugs, ACCURATE. I have an aunt that lives in Sydney, and I needed her address for something, so of course once I got it I went on Google Earth and did street view. And I swear to god, the first thought I had was, "Oh, that looks like a normal street. Now where are the spiders??" haha. xo

  5. This is such a cute yet super modern and light space! It's gorgeous <3 I'm preparing for a trip to Iceland this weekend. I've got to pack my suitcase and do a bit of research of what we'll do while we're there. Should be fun :) xx

  6. Gorgeous interiors! My business partner had to go to Australia a lot for awhile and said it was amazing, luxurious, super upscale only cleaner and nicer and bigger than say, Beverly Hills. I still haven't been but I'd like to. Plus I just saw Modern Family this week and their trip despite all the nightmarish qualities still made me want to visit :) Hope you have a wonderful weekend Christine!

  7. It's a rental? What what whaaaat? Might have to do a little digging on this one! When we told our family and friends that we were moving to Aus, the first thing they said to me was that I would have to get used to the crawlies again. We've been here nearly 8 months and I've only had two encounters with a huntsman spider in Sydney (and they are relatively harmless... even though they are the size of tarantulas). It gets a little more frequent outside of the cities but perfectly manageable with a big can of bug spray (which I never leave home without). So when are you planning to visit? :)

    1. i am assuming this is a pretty spendy rental, but still one can dream.

oh my gosh, you've encountered two bugs the size of tarantulas! yikes. and, oh man, i'd love to visit. trust me i am hoping you're planning on being there for awhile so i can! xo

  8. this house is amazing. I love everything about it. Oz has something magical about it for me too. I wouldn't want to live there though. it's just too far away from everyone I care about. which is too bad. I fell in love with Sydney the moment I arrived....

  9. I have experienced those Aussie bugs first hand and can tell you they are no joke. Having said that, this house is gorgeous and I would be willing to overlook all the creepy crawlers. I am especially loving that wall of windows in the living area.

  10. I feel like Australians have perfected indoor/outdoor living. It's because there are no bugs there? Right? Oh to find a place without them!

  11. I want all of the chairs. Those are the first things I noticed. I'm so weird. But really...the dining chairs, those living chairs. They are all so perfectly Mid-Century. Always a great eye for spaces, Christine!
