This home that is for sale in Goteborg is so unique I had to share. I am not sure I would be the right buyer for this place, but some of the things I think that might make me queasy living here, are exactly what makes it so unique and, shall I say, pretty awesome. To start - the spiral staircase. When I lived in England we had a spiral stair case, and while I thought is was so pretty (and quite the space saver) I never went up or down it without envisioning falling and breaking something. These spiral stairs lead up to a loft bedroom which bodes a glass floor. Eek. Here I imagine I would carefully walk around the three inches of floor space between the bed and the glass floor (and of course I imagine myself spying down to the lower level too). And if you look really closely you will see that the stairs go all the way to the ceiling in which you can climb out the skylight to your roof. Again, not sure that would be for me. In fact one of my most frequent reoccurring nightmares involves me climbing up stairs that get smaller and smaller until my only way out is a teeny tiny window. But that view! And the tall ceilings and those beams? I get get on board with those.

  1. Sadly, not the house for me. Can't handle that see-through floor or the spiral staircase. I love looking at it though. Is that good enough? White walls + dark beams = dreamy!

  2. Oh okay good, I thought I would be the only wuss with the glass floor! But I know that on one of my middle of the night pee trips, I'd come back and freak myself/give myself a heart attack convinced the floor was falling away! xo

  5. Ok, the glass floor would scare me too. Having said that, it is pretty brilliant of them to make use of the skylight above by installing a glass floor...

  6. Ha! I love your commentary on this and was thinking a few similar things while looking - also agonizing over the kitchen because I am having terrible white kitchen/nice cupboard envy lately, it's really bad. Anway, I've come to realize that as much as I try to make my home black and white, it always starts veering into the aquas and blues the second I'm not looking.

  8. i love spiral stair cases! my cousins apartment in nyc has a brass and wooden spiral stair case from her living room to her bedroom and i adore it. although my grandmother has actually fallen down those stairs like you fear, she got right back up and brushed herself off like it was nothing! i can still hear the squeaking sound that staircase makes as people go up and down...

  10. The glass floor of the bedroom is SO unique. Then again I would be obsessively cleaning it of smudges ALL the time so maybe not that great of an idea for an OCD person like me
