House Tour | Finish Loft |

Thursday, May 1, 2014

Oh my gosh I can't believe it is May already. This year took off with a quick sprint and hasn't showed signs of slowing down. And I am ready for it to slow down just a tad. Especially with the fact that M+L will be starting school in the fall. I want to squeeze every second of every minute, every minute of every hour, and every hour of everyday.

I was actually looking for a house tour for today that was a bit more "springy" in honor of the amazing spring weather we are having this week and to ring in one of my favorite months of the year, but when I saw this Finish Loft I couldn't resist featuring it. It may be that cute dog that proved to be irresistible, or the fact that I recognized that little workspace chalkboard wall back from when I featured the picture on this post, but despite my efforts I couldn't find the original image from which it came. Ah the satisfaction of finding a true original image source! Now I know what the rest of the house looks like, and it's as lovely as I expected it would be.

  1. Hmmm... there are components of this house tour that I really like a lot, but I can't shake the feeling that I've walked onto the set of a black and white movie. Perhaps a bit too neutral? Even for me?! Thank goodness for that sweet dog!

    1. i know what you mean. i am not sure if it's the neutrality as much as there is just a lot of weight to this place. it's sparse and yet feels heavy. but yes, there are many things i like too. especially the pups. and when i saw that steamer trunk i thought of you.

  2. I'm with Lauren. the house looks beautiful, but a bit too show-homey for me. too stylized. I can't quite get a feeling for who might live there.

  3. I think this is a really fun space! I was scrolling down and the more I did, I turned around and scrolled back up again, there are a lot of fun little elements to this home. It's got a laid back feel to it with a lot of nice industrial personality. I think a retired grunge rocker from the mid nineties lives there. ; )

    1. it does have a bit of a heavy feeling for me, but i agree with you, there are lots of elements i like a lot and i can totally picture the same person living there as you did. xo

  4. All it needs is a couple of doodles and hand prints on the walls from tiny fingers and some breadcrumbs scattered around :-) I could easily spend a few hours in this loft with a steaming hot coffee and a book and a HUGE pink blanket just to break the colour scheme :-)

  5. I can never get enough of black and white interiors and the styling in the bedroom, with that trunk as a night stand and the striped rug, is right up my alley.

  6. That last picture really gets me - what a beautiful way to repurpose an old trunk. Although I think I might scare myself half to death on those rainy, windy nights in imagining the dead bodies that have been stored inside of it... and with that, I'm going to go wipe my imagination
