Takeout

Just a couple images I found here and here of Brooke Bakers Seattle apartment. It's a really amazing space, but I was most taken by this lovely bedroom with a little loft space above the bed. My inner child still has a thing for perfect reading and note writing hide-outs.

+ I don't know how I feel about these wildfire-wedding-photos. They do look cool, but . . . maybe I just took too many environmental studies classes in college to be able to look at them and not think of the devastation that is going on in the background.

+ I do however love these photos of suburban ghost towns, Ghost Estates, by Valérie Anex.

+ The article of 5 minutes in a moms head is definitely worth reading, especially if you are a mom.

+ The top 10 ways to give your kid a 1970's summer. I am on board, except for maybe the kool-aid.

+ If you are superstitious you might want to take it easy today.

I hope everyone has a good weekend and a happy father's day if you are celebrating. We may go camping, but I am not sure if this stubborn cold is done with us yet.

  1. I had the same reaction to the wildfire photos you did. Like, would you take photos in front of a flooded house if there had been a flood? People are losing their homes and their lives and being evacuated and these two dopes were making it about them. Weddings! They make people do insane things! Haha xo

    1. yes, at first i thought wow!, and then i clicked on them and saw just how many there were and their excited faces, and the juxtaposition of that against the raging fire didn't work for me at all. maybe if it was one shot, as in that was real, that was happening on their wedding day - we got evacuated but we got this one photo. but overall i wasn't impressed. xo

  3. totally agree with you on the wildfire photos. it just makes me sad knowing how many people and animals lost their homes, and somehow seems disrespectful to me. hope you feel better christine!

    1. This is a quote from the photographer I came across ‘‘I've actually heard a lot from the wildfire community and they are totally amped on it!’’ Who is the wildfire community exactly? The squirrels and foxes? The firefighters risking their lives? meh. everybody gets 15 minutes i suppose.

  4. What a great post Christine. First, the wild fire wedding, I'm with you, I don't think I can get behind that. But it did make me think of the recent Modern Family wedding which made me chuckle. The ghost town images are so sad- all of those lonely empty homes (and so many of them in the same place!). And I only have one little one- but a lot of the 5 minute mom article resonated with me. OH and I love the images you've chosen- I love me some creative use for a small space ;-)

  5. That reading nook is so totally me. I'd love to just hide away there for a week - phone off and computer unplugged
