House Tour | The Farmhouse |

We are heading to Idaho and Montana for a long weekend getaway tomorrow so I thought I'd share this lovely Idaho Farmhouse with you. I love the mix of rustic and traditional farmhouse touches with scandinavian design peppered throughout the house. Personally I love that red barn. It reminds me so much of my time growing up living-in and visiting Northern Idaho. Both my uncle and my great-grandfather had similar ones on their property, though my great-grandfathers had a bird house that he made instead of horns.

While this home is actually outside of Boise, we are going up north, a bit past Coeur d'Alene and spending a night in the small towns where my family is from (maternal side). Visiting ghost towns both literal and proverbial (for me). Then we are crossing the state line into Montana to visit with family for a camping retreat in the great outdoors. We are actually staying in a motel but if you have heard of my animal encounters from my time living in Idaho you will understand why I am making sure I will have some walls at least during my sleeping hours. And really from the looks of this motel I think it's kind of going to be like camping. The "town" we are staying in has a population of like 7. I am really excited to share this part of my (and my family) history with M+L as it is their first time going there. I am also excited to be getting off the grid for a few days, taking photos, and simply being in wide open spaces. From my last trip to the coast (where I reluctantly ended up being off-grid), I found that is was so good for my soul. So hopefully I come back energized and inspired. Have a lovely weekend!

  1. Well, I love this house. I don't love the round dining room table. I'm still trying to figure out why they niggle at me so much (too Chinese food restaurant-y maybe?), but everything else is just the kind of thing I'm looking for. Simple. Minimal. A mix of neutral with pops of necessary, sudden color. Yes, please and more of this.

I so envy you this trip. As you know a balance in this online life is just the thing I'm looking for. How to walk this tightrope. If you find some answers, let me know. My heart is so happy thinking about you among your old places and in the big skies.

  3. You're going to have such a good time!! I've always wanted to go to Montana, and Idaho too (ever since I saw Napoleon Dynamite, which I realize is a strange association to make with the state, but seriously, the scenery there looks stunning). Take millions of photos and enjoy every second!! xo

  7. That barn! Those bedside tables! And even though Lauren hates it, that dining room table! Perfection! I love that you find homes that are cosy and filled to the brim with character. I also love that you have gone exploring as it means a virtual trip for me (hoping you took loads of photos... and enjoyed it)!
