Grey and White Linens

Monday, September 1, 2014

Happy Monday! Hopefully most of you, at least here in the U.S. have the day off today. School starts for my oldest, Fisher, tomorrow so we spent most of the weekend doing laundry, cleaning his room, and getting the last of the essential items. We had a bit of grey over the weekend and I have to say the coziness of it felt pretty wonderful. It made me want to snuggle up in my bed with a good book and a warmly scented candle. However, despite my many proclamations over the last couple years that I need to update my room I still haven't gotten around to it. I think I just don't know where to start. My room isn't very large so focusing on furniture it's an option. I've tried wall color, but that didn't inspire me. I tried a rug and that didn't inspire me. So I am thinking it must be the bedding. Currently I am loving these warm greys and white linens, which seem perfect for every season, but with fall right around the corner, it seems it might the time to try yet again to pull my bedroom together. Do you have any tips on decorating the bedroom?

  1. oh how i love a good monochromatic room with different textures in the same color! i once had my room with a textured and different shades of grey comforter, and i have to say, it was one of my favorite comforters ever - so versatile! as for today, we do have off, which is so nice. i woke up to my alarm this morning realizing i don't have to go to work and it's wonderful bc the weekend went too fast! i'm sure it went fast for fisher too being that school starts tomorrow. enjoy today!

  2. Surprisingly/unsurprisingly, IKEA has a few linen duvets out right now. I bought their tan, "natural" colored one for the guest room, and it is really well made and sturdy. I'm sure Restoration Hardware is having a Labor Day sale today, if you wanted to splurge a bit; their linens are out of this world luxurious. xo

  3. Oh I love grey and white linens. Striped ones as well. H&M Home have a surprisingly good collection of accessories for the home like cushions, rugs, candle holders...etc. All at a very affordable price of course. I always have a look there when I want to update one of my rooms a little.

  4. I love these linens. They just beckon you to snuggle in with a good book. Plus they're so clean looking, I think it would be a great option with a smaller space. : )

  6. The bedroom is the last place I think to decorate. We have all white sheets and dark, dark deep blue walls and that's about all the effort I can give it. The bed I slept in at that farmhouse in West Virginia had linen sheets. I'd already put those on my Christmas list, so it was nice to have that idea confirmed! ;)

  7. we're in the process of decorating our bedroom now {well...we have been "talking" about it, so that's the very beginning stages of decorating right?} i find that creating a mood board really helps me!

  8. Grey tones and beautiful fabric make a very good basis for a bedroom. I would sparkle it with cushions (easy to change according to the mood), yellow would work well. I like the Mr Fox cushion see http://www.johnlewis.com/scion-mr-fox-cushion/p324789?colour=Grey%20/%20Yellow
And then just good lighting and shelves for fav books and perhaps with a piece of drift wood to add to the natural feel. I really like the first pic, with the mattress directly against the tiled floor. Let us know what you find!

  9. oh yes, warm greys to mimic the fall skies sounds perfectly cozy to me. all these bedrooms look like sleeping havens. in decorating your room, i would keep everything minimal, you don't want too many distractions in a space that is meant for restoration and sleep. also invest in good quality linens, i think it's worth the extra cost.
