Halloween

Happy Halloween! I have been in a real creative funk lately. Definitely being more motivated to engage myself in books and tv, so my usual enthusiasm for halloween costumes (and zest for paired twin costumes) has fallen short this year. But yesterday we went to the thrift-store and sorted it all out. My original plan was for M+L to be Mario and Luigi and though we did find and get two M+L costumes (get it M+L? mario and luigi / milo and luca), I think we will be saving them for next year because they were just a bit too big. This year we are going for scary clown and zombie bunny.

These photos are from our recent field trip to the pumpkin patch. It was so rainy and truth be told with all that rain I was kind of dreading it. But the rain stopped the moment we exited the car and started up again with a vengeance the moment we got back in it. It was perfect. I am sure it would have been perfect had the rain not stopped as well. The kids were so excited and it was fun for me to get to talk to and get to know some of the new school friends I have been hearing about day and night for the last several weeks. Hope you all have a safe and happy halloween.

  1. The rain definitely knew to take a break and give you guys a decent time pumpkin picking. I really love how much moodier these shots are than some of the typical 'pumpkin patch' photos you see around this time of year; really 'feels' like Halloween from your photos! I'm excited to see the costumes, both this year & next year's :) xo

  2. Happy Halloween! kids costumes are crazy expensive or too big or both. I make Nora's but have a feeling when she gets older she will be like Mom I want a store one.

  3. love the pictures, like erin said, they look more approraitely "halloween" with the grey skies and saturated earth. mario + luigi is a good call (and SCORE! on finding both together at the thrift store), but i much like the creativity/randomness of scary clow and zombie bunny. haha! can't wan't to see the photos of those two cuties. have fun!

  5. I love those rainy pumpkin patch photos! We had perfect Halloween weather last night. Chilly enough for a fire pit outside, and lots of trick or treaters (we live in a neighborhood that gets kids imported from other neighborhoods to trick or treat). Today has lowering skies and crazy coastal winds. Feels like fall.

My favorite age for Halloween are the kids who are just in awe of all the costumes. Who cares about candy? Look at all those kids!

  6. it does look wet and muddy. but it's the attitude that counts, no? I hope you had a good Halloween. I'm still trying to catch up on blogs so I'm too late to wish you a lot of fun... xo

  7. GAH they're growing up to the point where they'd prefer scary costumes?! Who are these grown up adults and where did they come from? I loved seeing all the boys' Halloween costumes on IG this weekend. Your young men sure are growing up handsomely
