How was your weekend? Did anyone get a tree? I saw so many lovely instagrams of christmas trees over the weekend in their various stages of being cut down, placed on roofs of cars, being decorated, and of course, many final shots of trees in all their twinkly and sparkly glory. I must admit I felt a little wah wah as I looked around my house at my sole decoration so far this year (and my piles upon piles of work surrounding it). With that I am continuing living vicariously through the internet this early holiday season. I can say I think having to wait (or choosing to wait really) has made me decide that I am definitely going to keep my perfectly sized fake one in storage this year and opt for a real live nobel. I am ready to let the pine scent and needles overtake my house.

  1. Is that all one house? I think I want it. I already have the overhead lamp, so I think I'm halfway there, right? This is pretty much what I was going for this Christmas. Minimal and pretty but still festive. Half, maybe even more, of my decorations are still packed away. I like it!

  2. lovely place you found there. I'd move in there any time. as to xmas decoration. we don't have anything out yet either, and it looks like I get lucky and we leave it at that. there is so much stuff everywhere else, I enjoy coming home to a neutral, non-xmassy place :)

  3. We were planning on getting our tree on Saturday! It's an annual tradition that we go to lunch at the same place, and then get our tree at the same place, and then decorate it for the rest of the afternoon listening to Christmas Pandora (and J puts Dan Fogelberg's "Same Old Lang Syne" on endless repeat until it kills me). BUT! It poured all day Saturday! So instead we went to lunch at a British pub and then took a nap, haha. We are planning on trying again this Saturday, but we really need to get a move on! It's almost Christmas! xo

  4. I'm hoping to get a tree this week. I opt for a real one each and every year because it doesn't feel like Christmas without the pine scent.

  5. so pretty. the tree reminds me of my grandma. she always had her tree decorated in white. since we lived in a tropical country and there's no snow, she'd put on cotton as the snow on the tree.

  6. ohmygosh, that wood stove looks so perfectly cozy. I want one of those in my future cabin in the mountains. we were one of the fanatical folks that got their tree the weekend right after thanksgiving, but we didn't decorate it until this weekend. we took a huge leap of faith with August and decorated the entire thing (no glass ornaments tho!) but this morning he was pulling on the garland so we may have to strip her from the waist down. :/ fingers crossed!

  7. Isn't there something so magical about a real live christmas tree? They make me happy every year.

  8. We got a request for a real tree this year but then remembered how much of a pain it is to vacuum pine needles daily (esp since I'd be the one who'd be doing the cleaning) and that we don't remember where mom and dad keep the string of lights. Maybe next year when we're better prepared. And own a Roomba

  9. That house is so pretty, and the holiday decor fits in perfectly. I am at the point where I want to throw out all my old holiday decorations and start over, only this time in a much more restrained fashion. We will be getting our small tree this week, and I am keeping it simple, only getting out a few of my more special decorations this year. Last year I went a little too crazy. It was fun to put up, not so much to take down. ; )

  10. THAT lamp, heavens, instant lust object. What a pretty house! In Norway we don't put up our Christmas tree until the 23rd December, so there is heaps of inspiration to be had before that time.

  12. we got our tree this past weekend! i am such a sucker for real trees. we always had them growing up. my mom gave me a little faux tree when i moved to college but once we got engaged, it was the perfect excuse to "grow up" to a real tree!
